We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HSSEQ professional to join Speedy as an HSSEQ Manager, supporting operations across the UK. This is a national, field‑based role offering variety, autonomy, and the chance to play a key role in driving a positive Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) culture across a large, operationally diverse business.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior HSSEQ Manager, you will support the effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Speedy’s HSSEQ systems. Acting as a trusted advisor to operational teams, you will provide day‑to‑day guidance, ensure compliance with legal and industry standards, and help embed best practice across depots, worksites, and facilities nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • HSSEQ Management Systems
    • Support the implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS)
    • Ensure procedures, guidance documents, and forms are current and accessible
    • Assist with internal and external audits, including evidence gathering and tracking actions
    • Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Operational HSSEQ Support
    • Provide practical HSSEQ advice across depots, sites, and offices
    • Support risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
    • Conduct site inspections and produce clear, actionable reports
    • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting
    • Monitor HSSEQ KPIs and contribute to reporting and dashboards
    • Track audit actions, compliance tasks, and improvement initiatives
    • Prepare reports for senior HSSEQ and operational leadership
  • Training & Competence
    • Coordinate HSSEQ training, inductions, and toolbox talks
    • Maintain training records and certification compliance
    • Deliver HSSEQ briefings and awareness sessions
  • Culture & Continuous Improvement
    • Promote a strong HSSEQ culture through engagement and coaching
    • Support business-wide HSSEQ campaigns and initiatives
    • Identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve operational performance
  • Regulatory & Client Compliance
    • Support compliance with legislation and client requirements
    • Assist with tenders, PQQs, and client audits
    • Stay up to date with industry standards and best practice

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Experience in an HSSEQ role within a relevant industry
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) plus NVQ Level 5 (or above) in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Strong communication and coaching skills
  • Ability to conduct inspections, investigations, and deliver HSSEQ training

Desirable

  • Lead or Internal Auditor qualification
  • Environmental management training (certificate level)
  • Incident investigation training
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or regions
