Director of Business Architecture and Strategy

Reports to

Chief Finance Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director of Business Architecture and Strategy to join Speedy Hire and play a pivotal role in shaping how our organisation operates, transforms and grows.

Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer and working closely with our Executive Leadership Team, senior operational leaders and the Board, you will be responsible for defining and delivering Speedy Hire's Target Operating Model (TOM) and translating our strategic ambitions into sustainable organisational capability.

This is a highly influential, enterprise-wide role with responsibility for our business architecture and strategic change agenda.

You will bring together people, process, technology and organisational capability to simplify how we operate, improve efficiency, enhance our customer experience and enable sustainable commercial growth.

You will also provide leadership across Business Architecture, Project Delivery, Business Analysis and Change Management, creating a high-performing function capable of successfully delivering complex transformation across the organisation.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Define, own and evolve our Target Operating Model, ensuring it remains aligned with Speedy Hire's Velocity strategy and longer-term ambitions.
  • Lead the enterprise-wide change portfolio, translating strategy into clearly prioritised programmes and initiatives that deliver measurable business value.
  • Develop our business architecture and future-state operational blueprint, bringing together people, processes, technology, data and organisational capabilities.
  • Establish and lead effective change governance and PMO disciplines, providing clear oversight of priorities, investment, resources, risks, dependencies and benefits.
  • Provide executive-level oversight and assurance across major transformation programmes, ensuring successful delivery and benefits realisation.
  • Partner with Executive and Operational Leadership teams to identify opportunities to simplify operations, improve productivity and create sustainable new ways of working.
  • Lead the redesign and optimisation of critical end-to-end operational processes, including customer engagement, order-to-cash, depot operations, logistics, engineering and asset management.
  • Drive improvements in customer experience and digital adoption, ensuring our systems and processes make it easier and more efficient for customers to do business with us.
  • Represent Speedy Hire's operational, digital and transformation capabilities within strategic customer engagements, bids and major account discussions.
  • Lead, develop and inspire multidisciplinary teams across Business Architecture, Project Delivery, Business Analysis and Change Management, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

About You

We're looking for an accomplished transformation and business architecture leader who can operate effectively at Board and Executive level while remaining connected to operational delivery.

  • Significant experience translating corporate strategy into Target Operating Models, organisational capabilities and transformation roadmaps.
  • Strong expertise in business architecture and operating model design, ideally gained within a large, complex and operationally led organisation.
  • A successful track record of leading significant business, operational and digital transformation programmes.
  • Strong programme, project and portfolio leadership capability.
  • Experience establishing effective transformation governance, PMO disciplines, prioritisation and resource allocation.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, including experience evaluating investment decisions, business cases and benefits realisation.
  • A strong understanding of end-to-end process improvement, with the ability to redesign processes to improve productivity, efficiency and customer outcomes.
  • A customer-centric approach and an understanding of how digital capability can improve customer experience and create competitive advantage.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the credibility to challenge and influence at Board, Executive and senior operational level.
  • Strong people leadership capability, with experience building and developing high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and change leadership skills, with the ability to create engagement and bring people with you through significant organisational change.
