HOURS: Full Time

DURATION: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time in the Manchester office. Occasional travel to other group locations (e.g. Leeds, London, and Edinburgh), may be required.

About this opportunity

The UX/UI Designer creates intuitive, accessible digital experiences within a start-up style innovation team. Working from concept through MVP and scaling, they design interaction patterns, prototype solutions, and shape product experiences across multiple modalities - not just screens.

What You'll Do

  • Work in a technically focused environment, balancing complex outcomes with consumer needs.
  • Craft the end-to-end user experience, bringing together a cohesive journey step by step.
  • Bring designs to life through Figma and feel confident in running user testing sessions.
  • Balance business requirements with user needs, gathering user research and rationale to align stakeholders on individual user needs.
  • Be adaptable to the technical constraints of different platforms yet still be able to give guidance on creating the best possible end-user experience.
  • Advocate customer inclusion, ensuring designs are inclusive and accessible to customers of all ages, backgrounds, and technical abilities.
  • Collaborate closely with other designers, product owners, and engineers.

What you'll need

  • Interaction Design & Design Systems - Builds scalable interfaces using design systems and designs across multiple modalities and interaction contexts.
  • Prototyping & Interaction Experimentation - Creates rapid prototypes and runs lightweight experiments to validate ideas and inform product direction.
  • Information Architecture & Experience Mapping - Structures user flows and journeys, synthesising insights - even in ambiguous or low-information environments.
  • Accessible & Inclusive Design - Applies accessibility standards from the outset and champions inclusive design practices.
  • Product Thinking & Outcome Focus - Balances user needs with product growth, value proposition thinking, and measurable experience outcomes.
  • Behavioural psychology and persuasive design
  • Visual and content design collaboration
  • Multi-disciplinary facilitation and critique leadership
  • User experience measurement frameworks (e.g., EBVI)
  • Mentoring and craft development
