Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM) is the non-ring-fenced bank within Lloyds Banking Group. We offer a range of banking and investment products to retail and professional clients across our locations in the UK, Germany, the Islands (Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man) and the US. We have an exciting opportunity to lead the shaping, coordination and implementation of LBCM’s sustainability strategy, globally. This role requires strong evidence of strategy development and implementation, relationship-building and influencing skills at all levels, as well as experience of structuring and executing transactions in financial and/or capital markets.
What you'll be doing...
- Leading the development of LBCM’s global sustainability strategy, partnering with teams across Lloyds Banking Group, you'll be LBCM’s ambassador for sustainability, working across the full breadth of the sustainability agenda for our multi-jurisdictional business.
- As well as leading the development of sustainable financing strategies relevant to individual sectors and individual clients, in partnership with product and client relationship management teams.
- Developing LBCM’s sustainability network, harnessing the benefits of synergies between LBCM’s activities and those of Lloyds Banking Group and identifying any necessary changes across LBCM to harness sustainability-related opportunities, and to minimise and mitigate any sustainability-related risks.
- In conjunction with LBCM business stakeholders, developing and delivering market-leading ESG propositions, partnering with other teams in Lloyds Banking Group to ensure that the propositions are in line with the Group’s overall sustainability strategy and best practice in the market.
- Providing clients with strategic insight and commercial solutions to develop their overall ESG / transition strategy, embedding ESG considerations into the investment process and supporting with framework drafting and external verification.
- Helping clients set, achieve, and maintain ESG ratings.
- Identifying ESG product-related risks and working with others to formulate and implement controls and other measures to maintain products through their lifecycle.
- Representing LBCM in senior fora (internal and external), advocating for what we're doing to finance a greener economy.
- Overseeing the creation of marketing materials and pitch-books for LBCM products.
- Owning the successful origination and execution of opportunities developed from client and market conversations.
- Delivering effective governance capability within LBCM, operating within the broader environment of Lloyds Banking Group, having confidence to challenge constructively and work collaboratively towards delivering improvements.
- Shaping sustainability reporting for LBCM, identifying, sourcing and marshalling appropriate data.
- Leading the presentation of sustainability reporting to senior committees including the Board.
- Supporting senior stakeholders, as required, by preparing briefings.
- Chairing sustainability working groups/steering committees for LBCM, driving the agenda.
- Developing a strong network of internal partners on sustainability across all levels of the organisation.
- Building/maintaining your own and others’ expertise in sustainability and awareness of competitor activity, emerging themes and regulatory developments.
- Developing sustainability thought-leadership for LBCM.
- If required, supporting interactions with regulators and policy makers on sustainability-related topics that impact LBCM.
What you can bring to the role...
- Overall, you’ll need to be a self-starter with a passion for sustainability and a personal aim to use your skills for good.
- An existing external profile in sustainability with several years of experience in this field.
- In-depth knowledge of Green & Sustainability Linked Loan Principles, Green Sustainable and Social Bond Principles, UN Sustainable Development Goals, Climate Bonds Initiative, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, and other major ESG regulations.
- In depth experience of executing ESG-labelled financings.
- A track record in one of these areas (i) sustainability in the built environment (ii) energy markets (iii) carbon or energy transition advisory (iv) ESG ratings or sustainable finance frameworks (v) natural capital (vi) social value and social impact (vii) legal and regulatory environments.
- A growth approach that is solutions focused with well cultivated business judgement and high ethical and professional standards.
- An innate desire for continual growth and development in own capabilities by pursuing and investing in personal development as well as supporting the development of other colleagues and the wider business.
