- About this Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified lawyer with a minimum of five years post‑qualification experience to join the Consumer Relationships Legal team.
The role focuses on advising the UK Private Banking business, but will also support other Consumer Legal teams and centralised initiatives.
The role requires a high‑impact, subject‑matter specialist who delivers influential insight, engages proactively with senior stakeholders, and provides business‑friendly legal advice.
It may include delegated line‑management responsibilities.
Coaching colleagues and embedding effective legal risk management are key to this position.
Strategic thinking, legal‑tech adoption, and impartial risk assessment are encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Advising on a wide variety of Consumer Relationships and UKPB initiatives, including new and existing products/services, end‑to‑end customer journeys, digital propositions, and relevant law and regulation.
- Supporting transformation projects and the delivery of changes to products and services.
- Shaping and influencing strategy in relation to legal, regulatory and industry change, with specific reference to UKPB.
- Developing new third‑party partnerships that meet customer needs beyond banking.
- Providing high‑quality legal expertise and commercial advice to UKPB and Consumer Relationships colleagues and their support areas, facilitating excellent outcomes for customers and the Group.
- Building relationships with external stakeholders, including industry peers and external lawyers.
- Maintaining positive relationships with internal stakeholders across Legal & Secretariat, Risk and Compliance, and other functions.
- Identifying knowledge gaps and delivering and organising training for the team and business partners.
- Reflecting on service delivery and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
- Collaborating with other legal teams and participating in Consumer Legal and Legal & Secretariat initiatives.

- Knowledge of BCOBS, KYL/AML and ringfencing.
- Adaptability to new legal and technological developments.
- Strong influencing and communication skills, with experience engaging regulators and industry bodies.
- Track record of delivering legal advice in complex, cross‑functional environments.
- Experience collaborating with business partners and internal teams to deliver solutions in a regulated setting.
- Advantage: knowledge of cross‑border lending considerations.

- Ability to independently manage a busy workload in a fast‑paced environment.
