This role sits at the heart of the bank’s cloud modernisation, working within a large‑scale Google Cloud Platform environment that underpins digital journeys, data capabilities and emerging Generative AI workloads. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll help shape the cloud foundations that enable the organization to operate securely, scale efficiently and innovate responsibly. Your work will directly influence how cloud infrastructure evolves across the bank, with the opportunity to contribute to platform direction, engineering standards and the broader adoption of modern cloud practices.
You’ll design, build and optimise GCP infrastructure using a wide range of cloud services, alongside delivering Infrastructure‑as‑Code through Terraform and modular design patterns. The role involves developing automation using tools such as Python, Bash or Groovy, and working with structured data formats including JSON and YAML. You’ll also play a key role in evolving the CI/CD ecosystem across technologies such as Jenkins, Harness and GitHub, while working with Kubernetes (GKE) and modern deployment approaches to support scalable, resilient platforms.
Collaboration is central to the role. You’ll work closely with Infrastructure, Systems, Architecture and Software Engineering teams to deliver secure, automated and high‑quality cloud solutions within strong control, compliance and security frameworks. You’ll contribute to engineering quality through code reviews, design input and full lifecycle ownership, while also helping to guide and support more junior team members. In addition, you’ll be part of a wider operational model, including participation in an on‑call support rota and occasional out‑of‑hours work, ensuring the reliability and performance of critical cloud services that support the bank’s core operations.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong hands‑on experience with GCP services across a broad range.
- Advanced experience with Terraform and IaC.
- Proficiency in automation scripting (Python, Bash, Groovy).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Harness and GitHub.
- Experience managing environments using GKE or similar Kubernetes deployments.
- Ability to work across engineering domains with excellent communication and collaboration.
And any experience of these would be great:
- Google Cloud Professional certifications.
- Experience writing security guardrails (Sentinel or similar).
- Experience with monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace or Cloud Monitoring.
- Strong creativity, adaptability and a continuous‑learning mindset.
