In this role, you'll deliver highly advanced and sophisticated technical support for mainframe Db2 and its associated processes, tools, and utilities. You'll help run and maintain services according to Group standards and policies (and to agreed service levels) and will assist with the delivery of investment funded work within mainframe environments – this includes out of hours.
Additionally, you'll provide technical support (including incident and problem resolution for systems and processes in complex environments) – again this includes out of hours support.
What you'll do:
- Provide support for complex mainframe environments to tight timescales.
- Help drive the strategy and design across the mainframe development and test estate.
- Own and drive the zDBA technology roadmap, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver against it.
- Implement standardisation and drive improvement initiatives in the team.
- Work collaboratively across the wider Lab and Platform teams to develop, promote, and implement process initiatives.
- Ensure processes, governance, and procedures are rigorously adhered to.
What you'll need:
- Extensive in-depth expertise and knowledge of Db2 on z/OS.
- Expert-level experience of performance monitoring and optimisation of Db2, including SQL tuning, buffer pool tuning, with the ability to make targeted recommendations to improve service stability and availability.
- Expert-level experience of governing and approving DDL changes, handling schema evolution, validating impact, and ensuring alignment to change control processes.
- Extensive experience of leading the resolution and troubleshooting of critical on-line systems.
- Proven experience of communicating and translating complex technical concepts for Senior Leadership.
- Experience of supporting junior team members, providing coaching on Db2 fundamentals, performance tuning, utilities, and operational processes.
It would be great if you also had:
- 10+ years of experience as a z/OS Db2 DBA in a financial organisation.
