About this opportunity

We're looking for an Engineering Lead to join our Prudential & Analytics Platform to drive delivery of our new Model Risk Management tool and lead the transformation of our commercial model monitoring capabilities. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping our end to end engineering approach - modernising and scaling the platforms that underpin critical modelling, oversight, and regulatory processes across the Group. This is a high impact leadership role where you will guide engineering teams, set technical direction, and build cloud native, automated, and resilient solutions using modern data, cloud, and DevOps technologies.

What you'll do

  • You'll oversee the engineering strategy and buildout of a modern Model Risk Management platform - enabling model owners, reviewers, and governance teams to manage model lifecycle, documentation, controls, and oversight.
  • You'll lead the redesign and automation of the commercial model monitoring solution, bringing modern cloud patterns, observability, and GCP native tooling into the heart of our analytics ecosystem.
  • Provide hands on technical leadership to feature teams.
  • Guide architectural decisions, engineering standards, and cloud patterns.
  • Lead delivery planning, prioritisation, and alignment across teams and stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers, championing high quality engineering practices.
  • Partner closely with Product, Data Science, Risk, and Architecture teams.
  • Drive automation, CI/CD, and best practice DevOps across delivery.
  • Ensure solutions are robust, compliant, and meet operational and regulatory expectations.

What you'll need

  • Significant engineering leadership experience in software/data engineering, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform, ideally including: BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Cloud Storage, Logs Explorer, Data Catalog.
  • Strong experience building and leading development of model monitoring, analytical platforms, or data-intensive workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to guide engineering standards.
  • Experience leading teams using dbt (Data Build Tool) for modelling and transformation.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, automation, ideally using Harness.
  • Experience delivering solutions via Docker, Kubernetes, and modern orchestration patterns.
  • Background in building scalable, secure, and observable cloud capabilities.

Any of the following would be great to see

  • Experience working in regulated environments, model risk tooling, or governance workflows.
  • Knowledge of model lifecycle management, monitoring, validation, or model oversight.
  • Experience migrating complex legacy analytics systems into cloud native architectures.
  • Understanding of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Deployment Manager).
  • Knowledge of distributed data systems or streaming architectures.
  • Experience leading distributed teams.
