Colleague User Experience (UX) Professional Degree Apprenticeship

Duration: 4 years

Salary: £27,400

Locations: Leeds.

Qualifications: A BSc (Hons) Degree Apprenticeship in Digital User Experience (UX) from Manchester Metropolitan University

Design the difference. Build your expertise

When it comes to shaping how one of the UK’s largest organisations works, traditional HR can only take us so far. We need data that leaves no room for guesswork. Technology that keeps people and processes connected. And strategy that’s born out of insight. Exactly what our People & Places teams do every single day.

The People Experience & Platform team takes that further – bringing data, design and technology all under one roof to deliver an experience that touches 80,000 colleagues. And as a UX Designer Apprentice, you’ll be right where this magic happens. You’ll get to decide how work works across hiring, onboarding and performance – all while you learn how to improve day-to-day functions for those around you. Sounds like a plan?

Years? Four. Impact? Forever

This is four years of blending classroom learning with professional experience. And while your work may start in the product and experience-led team, its impact will be felt everywhere.

At the same time, you’ll also be working towards a fully funded BSc (Hons) in Digital User Experience (UX) with our learning partner, Manchester Metropolitan University. Throughout it all, you can expect to:

  • Apply what you learn to live projects from day one
  • Learn how to turn user needs into stronger ideas
  • Work with designers, product teams and stakeholders as you design intuitive digital products that solve problems
  •  You’ll spend most of your time building real experience on the job, with dedicated blocks of learning at university throughout the year.

The know-how before the go-do

What happens in the classroom doesn’t stay in the classroom. You’ll build the digital experience skills that make work better, as you learn how to:

  • Design around real user needs
  • Use UX methods to turn ideas into better experiences
  • Build digital products and services people actually use
  • Understand the psychology behind how people think, feel and behave
  • Turn data and insight into sharper design decisions
  • Stay ahead of emerging tech and future trends
  • And whatever you do, you’ll do it with the backing of the wider apprenticeship and Next Generation
  • Talent community. That means having access to a central learning journey, networking opportunities and experiences that go beyond the usual.

Opportunities that let you take the stage

Get seen by those who can help you go further:

  • Collaborate closely with those who have been there, done that
  • Get visibility and exposure as you engage with people from across the board
  • Decode how decisions are made in an organisation of this size

Your future. Fully backed

By the end of the apprenticeship, you’ll have:

  • UX Degree Apprenticeship and a fully funded BSc (Hons) degree in Digital User Experience
  • Several years of real-world experience
  • Fully funded travel and accommodation
  • A unique blend of practical skills and theoretical knowledge

Requirements

What you need to apply

  • Be aged 18 or over on 1st Sept 2027
  • GCSEs at grade 4 – 9 in both Maths and English
  • You’ll need a minimum of 104 UCAS points
  • If you’re unsure of your UCAS points, you can visit https://ucaspointcalculator.co.uk/ to check your total.

Important information

An additional requirement for the apprenticeship position is that you must currently possess a valid Right to Work in the UK. Your visa end date must extend beyond the duration of the apprenticeship programme, which will last up to five years.

Due to Home Office requirements regarding Skilled Workers, we’re unable to accept applications for visa sponsorship for our apprenticeship roles as the proposed salary for the role does not meet the minimum threshold – if this situation applies to you, please consider looking for other vacancies which may be more suitable.

Location

This apprenticeship is based in Leeds and you will be expected to work from your main office location throughout the programme. While our hybrid working policy requires office attendance at least two days per week (40% for full-time colleagues), apprentices are expected to be in the office most days during the initial settling-in period.

If your commute exceeds 1.5 hours, we strongly recommend relocating closer to the office to ensure consistent attendance in line with contractual and hybrid working expectations.

About working for us
Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities and we’re committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer Initiative.

We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. And, as a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.

We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers. Just let us know what you need.

Salary

You will join us on a fixed apprenticeship salary. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be re-graded, with your pay range consistent with the job family for your business area.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 22 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies

The closing date to apply for this opportunity is 12th January

Our roles generate a lot of interest and occasionally we need to close for applications earlier than originally advertised. If you think working with us could be right for you, please apply now and see where an apprenticeship with us can take you!

If you have any queries regarding the recruitment process, please email lloydsbankinggroup@cappfinity.com and a member of our team will be happy to help and will reply within 3 working days (Monday – Friday).
