About this Opportunity: As a Data Engineer you'll focus on assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of Data Product pipelines, gaining practical experience whilst working under the guidance of senior data engineers.
About the Role: We're transforming how security and compliance are engineered across Lloyds Banking Group - leveraging data, automation and modern architectures to protect our customers at scale. Within the Chief Security Office, the Security Data & AI Lab is building next-generation monitoring and compliance capabilities that move beyond traditional controls towards continuous assurance driven by data insights. As a Data Engineer, you'll join a growing engineering team contributing to the development of regulatory security monitoring solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to build your skills at the intersection of security, data and modern engineering practices, working on real-world challenges at enterprise scale.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Support the development and improvement of regulatory security monitoring and compliance capabilities, helping ensure controls are effective and scalable.
- Contribute to security telemetry and monitoring solutions (including database activity monitoring) to support detection and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in developing data ingestion pipelines and monitoring use cases, working with structured and unstructured data sources.
- Support the automation of control monitoring and evidencing, helping enable continuous compliance.
- Work closely with engineers and security specialists to deliver reliable and high-quality services.
- Learn and apply modern engineering practices such as automation, testing and version control.
- Develop and maintain user documentation to support team collaboration.
- Continuously develop your knowledge of security, data engineering and compliance tooling.

What you'll need: We're looking for someone who is curious, motivated and keen to build a career in security engineering and data-driven compliance. You might already have some experience, or be looking to deepen your technical skills in a supportive, engineering-focused environment. You'll bring:
- A foundational understanding of technology, data or security concepts.
- Interest in security monitoring, logging or compliance.
- A willingness to learn about data pipelines, automation and modern engineering approaches.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach to learning.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Exposure to scripting or programming (e.g. Python, SQL or similar).
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Awareness of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).
- At least 1 years' experience of working with security concepts or regulatory monitoring controls.
- Exposure to Agile or collaborative ways of working.
- Interest in how automation and AI can be applied to improve security and compliance.
