We're looking to recruit a Software Engineer to work within the Loans & Affordability Platform in Chester. You will be helping to build, maintain and enhance our Loans journey which processes a high volume of all transactions across the UK. Our objective is to grow and create an environment where you can do what you enjoy. There will be a huge amount of learning opportunities within this role and you will be working alongside some of the most talented engineers in the industry.
What you'll need:
- Understanding of application development and familiarity with technologies such as Java (ideally Java 17/21), Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and web services.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, preferably within an Agile environment, with some exposure through academic projects, internships, or personal work.
- Knowledge of development best practices and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts, with familiarity with tools like Jenkins or similar.
- Ability to write simple to complex, maintainable code and a willingness to learn how to build modular and testable applications.
- Ability to learn, troubleshoot and diagnose issues using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Kibana.
- Knowledge of version control systems, especially Git.
- Good understanding of IT service management concepts, such as Change, Incident, and Problem management.
- Experience with agile development practices and an interest in learning about test automation tools and techniques (e.g., TDD, BDD, Cucumber, Gherkin).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Better understanding or interest in container technologies like Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Familiarity with testing methodologies such as Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
- It would be great if you also had experience in UI development using React/JavaScript/TypeScript.
