About the role

We are the Mortgage Credit Risk team within Lloyds Banking Group, responsible for the lending strategy, risk appetite, portfolio insight and performance monitoring of the Retail mortgage portfolio across Residential and Buy To Let loans. As a senior credit risk analyst, you will help deliver responsible and sustainable lending by providing analytic insights to support risk management and decisioning.

You will be part of a collaborative team delivering insight through analytics to help manage risks associated with mortgage lending. You will use a variety of analytical approaches and will scope, define, and deliver analyses to support team goals. You will interrogate complex data using SAS or Excel and translate outputs into meaningful conclusions, form relationships with the wider Risk team and 1st line business areas, and provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior analysts.

It’s an exciting time to join; the Group aims to be a market leader in sustainability and carbon reduction, with mortgages contributing to that plan.

Responsibilities

  • Scope, define and deliver analysis to support mortgage credit risk strategies.
  • Interrogate complex data using SAS or Excel and translate outputs into actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with the Risk team and 1st line business areas; provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior analysts.
  • Help improve credit decisioning systems and portfolio performance monitoring.

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrable experience in credit risk and change management — understanding of how credit risk is managed with strategies and scorecards.
  • Strong numerate skills and qualifications — a degree (or equivalent) in a numerate subject with knowledge of advanced analytical techniques.
  • Analytical expertise — practical experience with analytical software and coding (e.g., SAS); confident in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Logical and analytical mindset — ability to work quickly with high accuracy.
  • Effective communicator — ability to explain complex issues clearly to diverse audiences (technical, non-technical, junior and senior stakeholders).

  • Generous pension contribution of up to 15%
