Through our brands, our Group has a relationship with just about every household and community in the UK. We underpin the lives of millions of individuals and businesses and play a key role in helping to build a growing UK economy. Group Audit provides independent assurance to the Board over the highest areas of risk across the Group, reporting on the effectiveness of the Group's control and governance processes. We are focused on driving innovation through greater use of data, AI and automation, and are looking for a new colleague to join our specialist AI, Data & Engineering (AIDE) team.
The successful candidate will have a passion for applying data science techniques to new scenarios, supporting delivery of our audit plan, providing insights, and driving innovation within Group Audit. This is a hands-on and varied role within a skilled team of data scientists, engineers and auditors, highly visible to senior management and with exposure to the entire Group. We're dedicated to giving you opportunities and support to develop you both professionally and personally to optimise your potential!
As a new colleague to the team, you'll join us on our journey to build a 21st century bank that reflects modern Britain and craft an inclusive culture where all colleagues feel encouraged and valued.
Day to day, you will:
- Apply advanced analytics and data science techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of the Group's control environment, providing assurance and identifying deficits.
- Partner with other audit colleagues to assess risks and test controls, producing robust, defensible analyses, and help auditors to interpret your results.
- Seek out opportunities to use innovative data science techniques, such as Generative AI and Machine Learning, helping to identify new use cases and enhancing the way we audit.
- Establish relationships with our internal audit teams to facilitate the delivery of data science and analytics, whilst learning about the Group's businesses, risks and controls.
- Promote the use of data science and analytics in audit, upskill audit colleagues in data analytics, and contribute to department-wide presentations.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, contribute to data science and analytics development projects, and help the function to be more data and AI driven.
- Develop your knowledge of the Group's strategy, products & markets and be responsible for your own professional development.
Why join us?
We're transforming at pace. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to change the way we meet the needs of our 28 million customers. We're growing, and we'd love you to be part of the journey!
What we're looking for:
- 2-3 years' experience delivering data science and analytics to support audits. Alternatively, experience using data science and analytics in a non-audit role with a proven grasp of internal audit or risk management.
- Ability to understand business processes, risks and controls, dealing with ambiguity to ensure you deliver assurance and insights that make a difference.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience using both in a work context.
- Knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, analytics and core data science techniques.
- Knowledge of visualisation techniques.
- Experience presenting technical topics and complex analysis to a non-technical audience.
And any of these would be great:
- Experience with machine learning, Generative AI and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is desirable.
- Experience with Power BI is desirable.
We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds. Whilst this job advert may reference specific years of experience, we recognise that skills are developed in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply.
This is a place for you. We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns.
