A rare opportunity to join one of the UK's leading intermediary lenders as a Business Development Manager for the North West. As the face of Halifax Intermediaries in your territory, you'll work with some of the region's most influential mortgage brokers, helping them grow their businesses while delivering great outcomes for customers. We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join Halifax Intermediaries as part of our wider Intermediaries team. Intermediaries is a diverse team who educate and support mortgage brokers and financial advisors to meet customer needs with residential mortgage products, and the wider housing market. The environment is rewarding and fast paced as we set ourselves exacting standards and your ability to build relationships will be very important.

As a Business Development Manager, you will be the face of LBG in the Intermediary Market and will work with both internal and external partners to deliver ambitious targets. You'll be required to build and maintain strong external relationships within a well-established territory. We'll encourage you to collaborate with key partners to develop business opportunities for increased income and growth. Building and strengthening existing relationships as well as developing new ones you will educate and support your brokers to help them meet the needs of their clients. We'll support you in becoming an authority in the housing market with a specific focus on Residential mortgages and a key member of our current BDM team.

For this role, you'll ideally be based in the North West, with responsibility for a client portfolio across the M, FY, PR, WN, WA and BL postcode areas. Regular travel across the region, including the Lake District, will be required. Our Business Development Managers work flexibly, splitting their time between meeting clients face-to-face on the road and working from home.

Some of the activities you'll be involved in are:

  • Deliver specialised support and service for both new and existing accounts and respond to complex customer enquiries.
  • Manage an established territory providing you with a tremendous opportunity to get results and hit ambitious targets in this exciting sector.
  • Build collaborative relationships with mortgage intermediary partners.
  • Carry out a variety of broker appointments and develop business both virtually and face to face.
  • Build your knowledge from our existing expertise in the housing mortgage market, and develop your role to become a key asset within our regional team.
  • Keep track of risks within the intermediary mortgage market and your broker panel; educate intermediaries in how to identify and overcome existing and emerging risks and manage any breaches.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong business development and/or relationship management skills, preferably within an intermediated environment.
  • A good understanding of the buy to let mortgage market landscape covering regulatory, technical, and legislative changes and opportunities.
  • Experience of working in financial services, preferably an area focused on mortgages.
  • Ability to read, understand and use data effectively to help coordinate and prioritise your workload.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills including face to face, telephone and in virtual environments.
  • In depth understanding of risk, compliance, and regulatory changes & opportunities.
  • A CeMap Qualification (or working towards) would be beneficial but not essential.
