As we continue to strengthen risk maturity and accountability, the role of specialist second line expertise has never been more critical.
We’re looking for a Senior Manager - Business and Commercial Banking (BCB) Conduct & Compliance to join our dedicated team within the Conduct, Compliance & Operational Risk (CCOR) division in Risk. In this role, you’ll provide high impact oversight and robust challenge to the BCB business, working closely with senior leaders to influence decision making and strengthen the control environment.
You’ll play a proactive role in ensuring BCB meets regulatory expectations and consistently delivers brilliant customer outcomes. Acting as a trusted partner to senior collaborators, you’ll translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, value adding guidance that supports sustainable growth.

What you’ll be doing:
- Partnering closely with BCB collaborators in the first line, acting as a trusted advisor and influencing strategy, product design, customer journeys and key risk decisions.
- Providing expert second line conduct and compliance oversight and challenge, ensuring regulatory expectations are met and conduct risks are effectively identified, assessed and mitigated, leading to great customer experiences.
- Supporting the identification, assessment and escalation of conduct and compliance risks, issues, events and emerging themes across BCB.
- Leading on complex regulatory and conduct topics, translating evolving regulatory requirements into clear, pragmatic guidance that the business can confidently implement to deliver brilliant customer outcomes.
- Driving improvements in risk management and control maturity, including input into risk assessments, issue management, outcome testing, governance forums and regulatory interactions.
- Providing independent challenge and advice on conduct and compliance across the wider risk taxonomy and policies, supporting the business to meet policy, control and governance requirements.
- Collaborating across other Risk Specialist teams within CCOR and wider Risk to deliver a joined-up second line service to BCB.

What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience in Conduct Risk, Compliance or Regulatory Risk, ideally within a Business or Commercial Banking environment with 5+ years’ experience.
- Deep understanding of UK regulatory expectations, with sound experience in interpreting and applying requirements of the Consumer Duty and Regulatory Sourcebooks (e.g. CONC and BCOBS) and the Payment Services Regulations, and translating these into clear, practical guidance for the business.
- Strong collaborator management and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex regulatory and risk issues and engage credibly with senior audiences and in governance fora.
- Sound judgement and confidence to balance regulatory expectations, customer outcomes and commercial considerations to reach timely, well-reasoned decisions.
- Experience overseeing change, transformation or product activity from a conduct and compliance perspective, including providing effective oversight and challenge to ensure an effective and robust control environment.
- Ability to anticipate emerging regulatory risks and external threats, assess their potential impact, and provide forward looking advice to support effective risk decisions.
- A data-led approach, with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement and everyday innovation.

- A professional qualification related to Compliance or Risk.
- Demonstrated capability in shaping and developing group level policies, standards or frameworks, including setting governance expectations and supporting consistent adoption across a diverse business area.
