About this Opportunity: An opportunity has arisen within Lloyds Banking Corporate Markets (LBCM) Global Markets to join our Rates Strats team. Global Markets is the customer-facing Rates, Foreign Exchange (FX) and Commodities sales and trading business. As our business and electronic trading capabilities continue to develop, you’ll help improve how we price, trade and handle risk across our Rates business.

Working closely with the Rates trading desks, you’ll develop and enhance Rates curve construction and pricing models, using your understanding of market instruments and conventions to support the pricing and risk management of Rates products. You’ll also build risk and trading tools that give traders greater insight into positions, exposures and profit and loss (P&L), helping them see opportunities and make informed trading and risk-management decisions.

You’ll contribute to our electronic and algorithmic trading capabilities, including electronic pricing, market-making and execution tools, alongside the analytics, monitoring and controls that support them. You’ll use market and trading data to develop pricing and relative-value metrics, trading signals and practical solutions supporting products including interest-rate swaps, inflation swaps and government bonds.

Partnering directly with traders, you’ll translate market and business requirements into robust models, tools and technology. You’ll also find opportunities to automate and simplify trading and risk-management workflows, taking ownership of improvements and working with colleagues across Global Markets, Quantitative Research, Engineering and our control teams to deliver resilient solutions, maintain appropriate documentation and support relevant governance processes.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years’ experience with the pricing and risk of Rates products, ideally including interest-rate swaps, government bonds and/or inflation products, together with experience of pricing, risk, P&L or other trading tools.
  • Proven understanding of Rates markets and how Rates products are priced, traded and risk-managed, including experience of interest-rate curve construction and modelling and the instruments and market conventions used to construct and calibrate curves.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using market and trading data to understand problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Programming experience in one or more of Python, C#, Java or C++, including experience developing system components and services and using Software Development Lifecycle processes and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with traders and colleagues across business and technical teams, translating market requirements into robust technical solutions and explaining market and technical concepts clearly.
  • Awareness of risk, control and conduct requirements, with an understanding of the wider financial services industry and relevant regulatory, economic and market developments.

And any experience of these would be great:

  • Experience using artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted tools to support research, analysis or software development.
  • Familiarity with Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
