Flexible Working Options: Hybrid Working, Job Share

Location: London

Hours: Full-time

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. Colleagues with disabilities can be supported with workplace adjustments including hybrid working expectations in line with our Flexibility Works policy.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing end-to-end experiences from early discovery and problem framing through to detailed interaction design and delivery.
  • Working across complex, high-dependency domains, shaping how customers navigate tasks such as managing roles, permissions, and business operations.
  • Translating complex business processes and rules into clear, structured user flows, information architectures, and intuitive interaction patterns.
  • Bringing systemic thinking into everyday design work and exploring unintended consequences to ensure seamless experience.
  • Actively using and shaping AI-assisted design workflows to accelerate exploration, improve quality, and push how design is done.
  • Using research, insight, and data to iterate and refine designs, balancing customer needs with business and regulatory constraints.
  • Championing accessibility, inclusion, and high-quality craft, ensuring experiences are usable, reliable, and built to a high standard.
  • Collaborating closely with product, engineering, data, and research to define problems, explore solutions, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Creating low- to high-fidelity designs and prototypes that communicate intent clearly and are ready for build.
  • Applying and evolving design systems and patterns, ensuring consistency while adapting to complex use cases.
  • Continuously raising the bar for clarity, simplicity, and design quality through evidenced examples.

Why join us?

We’re investing billions in our people, places and tech to change the way we meet the needs of our 28 million customers. We’re growing, and we’d love you to be part of the journey.

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience designing end-to-end product experiences, from early discovery and problem framing through to detailed interaction design and delivery.
  • Strong capability to work within complex domains, translating ambiguity into clear, structured customer journeys, information architectures, and interaction models.
  • Strong UX and UI craft – you can move seamlessly from structure and flow into high-quality interface design that feels considered and coherent.
  • Experience working across the full design lifecycle, using research, data, and iteration to shape and refine solutions.
  • Clear understanding of web standards, accessibility, and inclusive design, and why this matters in products customers rely on daily.
  • Proactive in using AI-assisted tools and workflows to improve design quality, speed, and exploration - and actively pushing beyond current ways of working.
  • A strong systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to bring clarity to complex problems and communicate them effectively to others.
  • Ability to hold a high bar for quality and craft, knowing what good looks like and consistently raising standards across your work.
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional environment, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and research to deliver outcomes.

And any experience of these would be great:

  • Experience designing within business or commercial banking/financial services/fintech.
  • Experience in actively contributing to design systems, particularly where complexity and scalability are key.
  • Experience facilitating discovery, alignment, or modelling workshops to bring clarity to ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Ability to work at multiple levels of abstraction, from high-level system thinking through to detailed interaction design.
  • Mentoring or supporting others in developing systems thinking, interaction design, or design quality.
