Flexible Working Options: Hybrid Working, Job Share

Location: Leeds

Hours: Full Time

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. Colleagues with disabilities can be supported with workplace adjustments including hybrid working expectations in line with our Flexibility Works policy.

Help us make investments and pensions simpler, clearer, and more usable by bringing strong research into everyday product decisions. We’re building digital experiences that help customers invest with confidence and plan for their future. You’ll join a multi-disciplinary team working across investments and pensions, partnering closely with designers, product and engineering. You’ll also work closely with our existing Design Researcher, so we’re looking for someone who adds extra depth in research design and analysis and helps us stay confident in what the evidence is really telling us.

A key part of this role is making sure what we learn does not sit in a deck. You’ll help us apply insight to the moments that matter across the customer lifecycle, so teams can see the bigger picture and make better end-to-end decisions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan and run research across investments and pensions, using the right method for the question, from depth interviews and usability testing through to broader exploratory work when we need it.
  • Bring strong research design and analysis, helping us test assumptions, improve confidence in decisions, and triangulate multiple data sources into clear evidence.
  • Work with designers, product and engineering to shape the problem, agree research questions, and keep a simple research plan that supports delivery.
  • Help the team apply what we learn to the wider customer lifecycle by mapping key moments, joining up journeys, and making it easier to spot where experiences break down across the end-to-end flow.
  • Turn findings into clear, usable outputs that teams can act on quickly, so research changes what we do next, not just what we know.
  • Share insights in a way that brings people with you, and helps create shared clarity on what to prioritise and why.

Why join us?

We’re transforming at pace. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to change the way we meet the needs of our 28 million customers. We’re growing, and we’d love you to be part of the journey.

What we’re looking for:

  • A minimum of 5 years qualitative research experience, including planning and running interviews and usability testing, and knowing how to choose the right method for the question.
  • Rigour in research design and analysis, with the ability to test assumptions, handle complex findings, and produce clear, defensible insight.
  • Confident synthesis and storytelling, turning data into insights that teams can act on quickly, and that genuinely shape priorities and design decisions.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working closely with designers, product and engineering to shape questions, build a research plan, and keep learning embedded in delivery.
  • Able to apply research insight across the customer lifecycle, helping teams improve the end-to-end experience, not just one moment.
  • Good research governance, including care with participant data and doing research responsibly in a regulated environment.

And any experience of these would be really useful:

  • Some service design experience - Experience creating or contributing to journey-based artefacts that help teams see how experiences connect across the lifecycle (for example journey maps or service blueprints).
  • Using a wider mix of exploratory methods like contextual enquiry, diary studies, or co-creation to understand needs in more depth.
  • Familiarity with unmoderated research tools such as Maze or Qualtrics.
  • Knowledge or experience in investments, pensions, or other regulated financial products, where clarity and customer outcomes really matter.

We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds. Whilst this job advert may reference specific years of experience, we recognise that skills are developed in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply.

This is a place for you:

Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities and we’re committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
