The role is within our Analytics Lab, where we are enabling Analytical excellence in the Risk Division by delivering Data as a product onto the Google Cloud Platform to support our Risk Strategy and Regulatory change agenda. You'll work on a blend of large scale Regulatory Programmes, and fast paced problem resolution, alongside Analysts, Engineers and Integrators, following Agile Project Methodology. We'll be working with the latest technology, giving you the opportunity to help overcome longstanding data quality issues and challenges. This role may work across the areas of the lab but will have some focus on supporting Climate data.

So, what would I focus on in this role?

  • Analysis: Reviewing or completing technical analysis to inform the direction of major projects, utilising data analysis and visualisation.
  • Data Modelling and Documentation: Produce data models setting out the construct of our data products. Extract, document and validate data requirements and proposed data sources and solutions with customers, including defining acceptance criteria (definition of "Done").
  • Testing: Support Feature Team with testing preparation and acceptance testing to ensure the solution meets the identified business need.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Responsible for supporting customer needs and working with partners to keep project delivery on track.
  • Data Product Governance: Ensure proposed solutions align with Group policies and all regulatory and statutory requirements, including developing an expertise in Data Product Governance.

What we’re looking for:

  • Great communicator, dynamic and adaptable with a flexible approach, open to learning new skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A natural facilitator, negotiator and decision-maker, collaborating across all teams within the Lab.
  • Understanding of, or experience in, delivery using the Agile methodology.
  • Understanding of data schemas and foundational data engineering principles (e.g. data pipelines, schemas, ETL etc).
  • Understanding of business analysis methodologies for data products particularly using analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Experience of one of the common data analytics tools (SAS, SQL, Python, R).
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud platforms for data engineering and analytics would be advantageous. Training support in this area will be available.
  • Experience working within a regulatory risk change environment would be an advantage.
