As a Workplace Pensions Performance & Insight Manager, you will play a leading role supporting Scottish Widows Workplace Pensions Distribution to deliver for our customers and colleagues. You will be a Workplace Pension expert, delivering transformational insight to key stakeholders across the business.

This role requires strong data analysis and visualisation skills, with Power BI experience essential and advanced Excel expected. It combines data expertise with Workplace Pensions and Insurance industry knowledge to deliver insight that drives business decision-making.

The team has 3 core responsibilities:

  • Deliver fast, accurate weekly performance reporting, providing senior leadership with clear visibility of business performance
  • Produce deep, data-driven insight and analysis that supports strategic decision-making
  • Lead and support projects that improve processes, reporting, and customer insight

Data and tools you'll work with include:

  • Analysing Workplace Pensions data from our Microsoft Dynamics (CRM) system, alongside Platform and Finance datasets, including Google Cloud Platform data products
  • Combining core data sources with additional internal datasets (e.g. Commercial and Retail Banking) and external data sources (e.g. Companies House, ABI)
  • Using tools such as Power BI and Excel to analyse data, build dashboards, and deliver actionable insight on business performance

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading a small team of specialists, you'll report into the Workplace Performance and Insight Senior Manager
  • The team designs and delivers new scheme sales pipeline insight, improving conversion and flow
  • We also analyse how we’re growing our business from existing pension schemes, including; new members, increased contributions, pension transfers and one-off payments
  • We ensure clear and effective client risk reporting to minimise scheme loss and improved retention rate
  • We deliver the 6-year operating budget for new schemes – through deep knowledge of LBG product propositions, market share forecasts, macro-economic conditions and wider pension industry trends
  • Shaping the business forecasting models, including quarterly plan re-forecasting – ensuring accurate performance outlook against the plan
  • Delivering weekly communication of Workplace Pensions performance to the Executive leadership team through regular reporting and weekly trading calls
  • Build and maintain successful working relationships with key business supporters across the group, including Finance, Distribution, Brands and Marketing, Propositions, Strategy and platform leadership teams
  • Distribution sales target setting process, ensuring clear and effective performance management reporting to support clear peer comparison and performance improvement opportunities
  • Support design and implementation of the Workplace Distribution and Growth Strategy, driving improved performance and market share – responding quickly to changing market dynamics
  • Leading/Supporting specific time-bound projects working with other areas of the Workplace Pensions platform to deliver platform-wide solutions
  • Leading/Supporting delivery of small scale data and analysis related projects or well-defined tasks on larger projects to improve insight provided to the business

What we’re looking for:

  • Customer and Market Knowledge - Knowledge of the Workplace Pensions industry, including products, competitors, key intermediary types, and relevant regulations.
  • Data and Analysis - Use critical thinking and analytical skills to interpret data trends and produce high-quality, data-driven insight that supports business decision-making. Ability to analyse complex, sometimes conflicting datasets and build a clear, coherent narrative. Strong numerical and problem-solving skills to model and assess the commercial impact of past, present, and future business activities.
  • Prioritisation and Leadership - Strong leadership and prioritisation skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment. Experience addressing challenges and providing coaching and feedback to build team capability.
  • Collaboration - Collaborative approach with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across teams, engaging colleagues at all levels across the Workplace and Retirement Platform.
  • Clarity of Message - Ability to clearly communicate data-led insights and influence colleagues to lead change. Experience developing recommendations and proposals tailored to different audiences, supporting effective decision-making.
  • Tools - Strong experience using Microsoft data tools, including Power BI and advanced Excel, to analyse data and deliver insight.

It would also be useful if you had:

  • Demonstrable proficiency, with ability to coach and support colleagues across core Advanced Analytics technical skills required in role (AI literacy, Data Analysis, Data Ethics, Data Literacy, Data Storytelling)
  • Competency to support team with your experience of Power BI DAX, Google Cloud Platform, Python, SQL, Machine Learning, Feature Engineering and Data Visualisation
