Security Operator (Shift Worker)

What you’ll be doing

Join our Physical Security Operations Centre and play a vital role in keeping our colleagues, customers and premises safe. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our team provides essential security support across the Group. As a Security Operations Specialist, you'll use your expertise to monitor alarms, respond to incidents, manage access control requests, and provide guidance on security procedures. You'll work closely with colleagues, suppliers and emergency services to coordinate effective responses to security events, while also helping to resolve security equipment issues remotely or arranging engineer support when required. Alongside day-to-day operations, you'll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, maintain quality standards, and support the development of processes and procedures that improve our security services.

In this role you’ll

  • Monitor security alarms and coordinate effective responses to incidents
  • Diagnose and resolve security equipment issues, escalating to engineers where required
  • Provide expert guidance and support through telephone and email communications
  • Manage and support access control systems, ensuring processes are followed
  • Investigate issues, identify solutions, and maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Review playbooks, recommending improvements to enhance security services and performance.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, capable of confidently providing support over the phone and online
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual, with a drive to achieve both individual and team objectives
  • Strong relationship-building skills, enabling you to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and external partners
  • A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to enhance processes, services and customer experience
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Resilience under pressure, with the ability to remain calm, assess risks, adapt to changing priorities and make sound decisions when responding to incidents.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be beneficial however not essential as training is provided.
