Job Description
A front-row seat to the science of work When it comes to shaping how one of the UK’s largest organisations works, traditional HR can only take us so far. We need data that leaves no room for guesswork. Technology that keeps people and processes connected. And strategy that’s born out of insight. Exactly what our People & Places teams do every single day. But they don’t do it alone. Our occupational psychologists are the people behind the people – using behavioural science, research and insight to understand what makes work better. Be an Occupational Psychology intern with us and see how it all happens up close.
8 future-defining weeks
This isn’t an internship where you just sit back and observe. That means you’ll have a front‑row seat to occupational psychology in action. And along the way, you’ll:
- Work with different teams on different projects
- Apply your classroom learning to real scenarios
- Gain a deeper understanding of what occupational psychology is like in the workplace.
- Decode what makes people tick and turn it into practical solutions
- Help teams work better, not just harder
- Find out what drives performance and help people thrive
- Build more inclusive ways of working
- Help leaders bring out the best in their teams
What’s next
This internship marks the beginning of a rewarding career in Occupational Psychology. As you develop your skills and expand your network, you’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your abilities. And if you perform as well as we believe you can, you may be considered for upcoming graduate opportunities.
Requirements
- Be currently studying, or intending to study, a BPS-accredited Master's in Occupational Psychology
- Willing to gain practical experience
- While we do not require a set projected minimum degree achievement, we recommend demonstrating sound knowledge, understanding and technical skills aligned to the role. Some aspects of this, alongside behaviours and values, will be assessed through the application process.
- We cannot sponsor visas.
Location
This programme is based in Bristol. With our hybrid policy, you’ll spend at least two days a week in the office. Interns are expected to be in the office most days during the initial settling‑in period.
Opening and closing date
Applications for the Occupational Psychology Internship open on 3rd November and will close on 31st January 2027. Apply soon, as this apprenticeship may close early if we receive a high number of applications.
