Credit Analyst – Unsecured Lending
Full‑time, permanent role based in Newport (moving to Cardiff from September 2026), Halifax or Chester. Salary: £29,460. Hybrid working: at least two days per week (40%) in the office.
Responsibilities
- Support a range of Personal Current Account credit risk management strategies including New Business Account Originations, Existing Customer Lending and Credit Limit Decreases.
- Analyse and interpret a range of risk data, maintaining high‑quality analysis to support stakeholder needs, using SAS Enterprise Guide and Excel.
- Organise and prepare risk strategy documents and summarise risk data for BAU monitoring and reporting.
- Analyse specified problems and incidents to find the root cause and recommend potential solutions.
- Deliver innovative solutions to enhance existing processes and systems.
- Respond to individual and team objectives and invest in improving personal performance by growing own skills and capabilities.
Qualifications
- Comfortable working with numbers, demonstrated through a degree/qualification in a numerate subject or minimum 2 years of equivalent quantitative experience.
- Analytical problem solver, able to work creatively with data to draw out insight and answer business questions.
- Effective communicator, building positive relationships with partners and clearly influencing business decisions.
- Well‑organised, able to manage workload while adapting to changing priorities.
- Proactive in personal development and collaboration to improve team culture.
- Desired: aptitude for learning programming languages (SQL, SAS, R, Python), with or without prior coding experience.
