What you’ll be doing:
As Director, Strategic Debt Finance Asset Management, you’ll lead the SDF AM team in delivering strong first line credit defence, ensuring robust analysis of highly leveraged Corporate and Private Equity-backed clients while identifying and handling emerging risks. You’ll operate in a fast-paced environment, leading all aspects of a dynamic portfolio with frequent client interaction and cases moving through close monitoring classifications such as Special Mention, Special Review and Watchlist.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders including clients, sponsors, Origination, Credit, BSU, Product Partners, legal teams and Sector Coverage to improve the Bank’s risk and return profile. Alongside leading active portfolio management, you’ll lead the team of around 20 colleagues to take ownership of complex credit events including covenant amendments, amend-and-extend transactions, incremental facilities and acquisitions.
As a senior leader, you’ll develop and lead a high-performing team, provide clear insight and reporting to internal stakeholders, regulators and co-investors, and contribute to wider business initiatives and strategic priorities. This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape how we manage and protect one of the Bank’s most complex, higher-risk lending portfolios.
Why join us?
We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone, make change happen and challenge the status quo. Sound like you?
What we’re looking for:
- 10 years’ experience in leveraged finance, asset management, restructuring or credit risk within financial services.
- Leadership experience, including managing and developing high-performing teams and contributing to wider strategic or portfolio initiatives.
- Shown experience leading highly leveraged Corporate and/or Private Equity-backed portfolios, with exposure to sponsor-backed structures.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with senior internal stakeholders, clients, sponsors and regulators (e.g. PRA).
- Strong credit assessment capability, including analysis of cash flow, business models and complex capital structures.
We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds. Whilst this job advert may reference specific years of experience, we recognise that skills are developed in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply.
This is a place for you:
Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities, and we’re committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.
We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer Initiative.
We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. And, as a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.
We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers. Just let us know what you need.
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:
- A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
- An annual performance-related bonus
- Share schemes including free shares
- Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
- 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
- A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
