We’re looking for an exceptional senior leader to join Bank of Scotland as Regional Director, Scotland and shape our ambition to become Scotland’s number one commercial bank by 2030.

As our senior commercial banking leader and ambassador in Scotland, you’ll build on that unique position to create and own the market strategy, mobilise colleagues and partnerships, and drive sustainable growth towards our 2030 ambition.
Role Purpose
To provide unified regional direction across SME, Business Banking and Mid-Markets, delivering sustainable growth, strong client outcomes and disciplined risk management, while protecting the Group’s culture and reputation in Scotland.
What you’ll be doing
- Act as Bank of Scotland’s senior commercial banking representative and figurehead across Scotland.
- Create, own and execute an integrated regional strategy across SME, Business Banking and Mid Market, covering businesses with turnover of up to £500m.
- Build and maintain influential relationships with key clients, government bodies, regulators, industry organisations and strategic partners.
- Represent the needs of the Scottish market within Group and Business leadership forums.
- Champion the Bank of Scotland brand, heritage and external profile, strengthening its position as the bank for Scottish business and building momentum towards becoming Scotland’s number one commercial bank by 2030.
Commercial performance & financial leadership
- Hold end-to-end accountability for regional financial performance, including income growth, profitability, deposits, lending and balance sheet performance.
- Deliver sustainable commercial growth while maintaining strong cost discipline.
- Drive sales effectiveness, origination excellence and performance management through regional leadership teams.
- Establish clear objectives and governance frameworks to ensure consistent performance delivery and accountability.
Clients, risk & reputation
- Lead the delivery of excellent client outcomes and a consistent client experience across all segments.
- Maintain accountability for regional credit quality, risk management and conduct standards.
- Make complex commercial and risk judgements in line with the Group’s risk appetite.
- Embed a strong risk culture that balances growth ambitions with prudent decision-making.
Leadership, talent & culture
- Provide visible and inspirational leadership across Scotland.
- Lead, coach and develop senior leaders and relationship teams, creating a high-performance culture.
- Build succession pipelines and future leadership capability.
- Champion inclusion, engagement, wellbeing and colleague development across the region.
Potential sector leadership & market development
- Subject to final role design, act as national sector ambassador for Food & Drink Production, reflecting Scotland’s importance to this sector across the UK.
- Shape sector-led growth strategies, propositions and partnership opportunities.
- Where confirmed, drive sector performance nationally through collaboration with Product, Marketing, Risk and Commercial Banking leadership teams.
- Use market insight and client feedback to influence product development, pricing strategy and investment decisions.
Operating model & cross-Group collaboration
To lead Bank of Scotland’s commercial banking franchise across SME, Business Banking and Mid Market clients - businesses with turnover of up to £500m - delivering sustainable growth, excellent client outcomes and disciplined risk management. The role holder will shape and own the strategy to make Bank of Scotland Scotland’s number one commercial bank by 2030, while protecting its culture, heritage and reputation as part of Lloyds Banking Group.
- Partner closely with Product, Specialist Coverage, Risk, Technology, Finance and Operations teams.
- Ensure effective deployment of capability, resources and client-facing expertise.
- Drive collaboration across the organisation to deliver seamless client outcomes.
Governance & enterprise contribution
- Maintain effective governance and regulatory compliance across all regional activities.
- Contribute to enterprise-wide decision-making through participation in senior leadership forums.
- Share market insight and external intelligence to inform strategic decisions across Lloyds Banking Group.
What you’ll needExperience
- Significant executive leadership experience operating at enterprise, national or large regional level.
- Proven track record of delivering commercial growth and leading complex banking or financial services businesses.
- Experience managing significant P&L, balance sheet and cost accountability.
- Deep understanding of SME, Mid Market and Commercial Banking markets, including businesses with turnover of up to £500m, sector economics, sub-sector dynamics, client behaviours and competitive landscapes.
- Experience engaging with government, regulators, trade bodies and senior external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in shaping and delivering market, sector or growth strategies and propositions.
- Significant experience leading large, geographically dispersed and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong experience operating within regulated environments and applying sound credit and risk judgement.
- Experience setting and embedding standards for sales effectiveness, origination discipline, capability and performance.
- Experience of media engagement, public relations, thought leadership or investor-style messaging would be desirable.
