Location: Bristol, Edinburgh or Leeds

Hours: Full-time - 35 hours per week

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this Opportunity: This is an opportunity to bring your experience and expertise in social sustainability to Lloyds Banking Group where you will play a key role in delivering our sustainability ambitions! The Manager will provide support for all social sustainability-related activities with a day-to-day focus on activity to assess and manage social-related risks, opportunities and impacts in our centre of excellence, including social-related impacts of climate change and transition to net zero.

You will join the Group Sustainable Business team which sits at the centre of Lloyds Banking Group and plays an important role in enabling Lloyds Banking Group's purpose ambitions and activities which are critical to the delivery of the Group's strategy and helping Britain prosper. These include defining the ambitions and enablement actions across key areas such as affordable homes, financial empowerment, regional development, transition to net zero and protecting nature.

As Manager, you will be:

  • Synthesizing societal trends, with special focus on inequality, financial resilience and inclusion, net zero impacts on people, providing insights and guidance on related risks and opportunities, and supports building an internal approach to ensure continued alignment with standard methodology.
  • Providing SME input into key Group initiatives drawing on data-driven insights, leading frameworks, thought leadership and knowledge of financial products.
  • Collaborating with partners across the Group to develop and mobilise initiatives advancing our societal impact and commercial success of the Group.
  • Supporting the development of LBG capabilities in social impact areas, by sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues across all levels.
  • Translating emerging and existing external regulatory, obligatory, or voluntary industry requirements and assessing the impact on the Group's business models and focus areas.
  • Contributing to a high-performing team, encouraging and embedding new, agile and innovative practices to improve process effectiveness, efficiency, accuracy and pace.
  • Continuously developing and growing by pursuing personal development opportunities.

What we are looking for: We are looking for a strategic problem solver with a good understanding of socio-economic issues, trends and frameworks, such as Sustainable Development Goals, who wishes to apply their skills within a financial services company. Specifically, we are looking for someone that:

  • Has experience with assessment and management of social-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities and interconnections between social issues and climate or nature.
  • Has the ability to translate insights from raw data into strategic recommendations and appropriate measures of progress, and to critically evaluate alternatives.
  • Uses information analysis and scenario comparison, applying logic, prioritisation and creative thinking, to formulate judgments and solutions that lead to effective outcomes.
  • Is a teammate, identifies, builds and maintains positive relationships with key internal and external partners, and uses interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Communicates clearly, adapting styles to target audiences, using storytelling and case studies to demonstrate strategic concepts.
  • Has experience in crafting executive-level briefings and papers.
