Working Pattern: Hybrid: at least two days per week, or 40% of time in office.

What you’ll be doing:

  • We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking and highly credible leader to help shape the future of Markets Middle Office (MMO), part of Markets Operations (MO). In this role you will provide visible leadership, clear direction and strong delivery in a sophisticated, high-profile environment and lead our Transaction Management function across credit products (primary and secondary traded bonds).
  • You will support Sales and Trading teams in LBCM covering Middle Office functions and manage the operational aspects of our Special Purpose Vehicle (Cancara) supporting commercial paper issuance, lending and FX products for clients.
  • You will use your experience in complex market environments to shape strategy, respond to market changes, drive automation and improve service for clients and front-office partners.

Your Accountabilities will include:

  • Taking leadership and ownership for the resolution of all client or interested party queries arising from actions undertaken by the Credit Transaction Management Team.
  • Using experienced judgement to perform root-cause analysis, drive resolution at pace and develop continuous improvement plans that strengthen service, control and interested-party confidence.
  • Supporting a sustainable, cost-effective target operating model to meet business needs, adapting as the model evolves.
  • Leading and further developing strategic business relationships with key stakeholders through credible engagement, performance insight and visible leadership, building trust and influencing outcomes across a broad and senior network.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures and interpreting and applying policy to achieve specified outputs, or advising the wider business on policy application, then supervising implementation within the organisation.
  • Supporting the wide range of Middle Office activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by collaborating closely with all internal risk-management functions and supporting the development and implementation of the organisation's compliance policy.
  • Ensuring adherence with group policy, procedures and guidelines, quality standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Measuring and reporting critical metrics.
  • Engaging with industry developments appropriate to the business area and the wider market, and understanding how the external environment and regulatory landscape will influence change within Markets Operations.
  • Representing your business area and Markets Operations at governance forums, providing authoritative leadership, experienced insight and clear challenge to support strategic objectives, informed decision-making and effective risk management.
  • Providing experienced leadership to key collaborators in support of programme objectives, building confidence in delivered solutions, ensuring they are market-leading, and leading the implementation of change in a controlled, practical and commercially effective way.
  • Being forward-thinking and taking ownership in supporting new processing models that include digital solutions, keeping pace with an evolving external digital and regulatory landscape (T+1).

What we’re looking for:

  • Extensive experience across Global Markets products (specifically strong across bonds, primary and secondary trading) and end-to-end system infrastructures, including regulatory requirements for transactional reporting.
  • At least five years of experience in a sophisticated, multi-dimensional, client-facing and fast-paced environment.
  • Deep technical and operational knowledge, underpinned by substantial experience, to meet business needs and provide confident leadership across complex issues and decisions.
  • Experience delivering and leading in a sophisticated, multi-dimensional, client-facing and fast-paced environment, with resilience and leadership presence to prioritise successfully.
  • In-depth knowledge of group policy, procedures and guidelines, quality standards and all global regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain senior working relationships internally across the Group and externally with industry participants, trade bodies and suppliers, using these relationships to build influence, credibility and momentum.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and credibly at all levels and across different audiences.
  • Front-to-back experience across bonds (primary and secondary), FX, lending and CD/CP is essential. Settlement of these products is also desired.
