Join our Retail Finance Risk & Control team for this 12 month Fixed Term Contract and play an important role in maintaining a strong financial control environment during a period of significant change.
Working across Finance, Risk, Controls and Audit, you'll gain valuable exposure to products, processes and transformation activity while building expertise in risk, controls and governance.
What you’ll be doing
- Support the Senior Manager by owning tasks that help maintain strong controls and deliver the annual assurance programme:
- Keep key control documents up to date (such as end-to-end process flows).
- Review profit and loss and balance sheet movements to help resolve SOX scoping questions.
- Track changes to SOX controls from one year to the next.
- Keep the SOX system up to date when controls, processes or owners change.
- Prepare clear progress updates on SOX activity, issues and actions for stakeholders and auditors.
- Keep operational resilience plans and information up to date, including business continuity and data storage.
- Prepare clear updates for senior governance forums on SOX progress, control effectiveness, risks and decisions needed.
- Track business changes and assess how they may affect existing controls.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, business, Platform, Chief Controls Office and audit teams.
- Promote a strong risk culture by being curious, proactive and practical.

What we’re looking for
- 12 months plus experience in Finance, Risk, Controls or Audit, with proven ability to apply risk and control principles in day-to-day decision-making.
- 12 months plus experience in explaining complex risk and control topics in a simple way and proficiency in communicating at different levels.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build trusted relationships across difference teams.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering accurate, high-quality work in a structured environment.
- Curiosity and confidence in asking questions with a pro-active in approach, ability to challenge constructively, influence outcomes and move actions forward.
- Experience in financial services.
- Experience of SOX, financial reporting controls, risk governance or control frameworks.
- A relevant qualification or experience in accounting, audit, risk management or controls.
