We’re looking for a detail-driven Construction Quality & Cost Assurance Assistant Manager, to ensure our workplace projects meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and value for money. You’ll play a key role in monitoring construction activities, safeguarding health & safety, and embedding sustainability and accessibility principles throughout delivery. This is your opportunity to shape the future of workplace delivery, ensuring every project reflects our commitment to quality, sustainability, and value. You’ll work on high-profile programmes that transform how our colleagues experience work.
This role combines technical oversight, commercial foresight, and stakeholder collaboration, ensuring every project is delivered on time, on budget, and to specification. As a Quality & Cost Assurance Assistant Manager, supporting the Construction and Standards team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, sustainable workplaces that meet the needs of today and tomorrow. You’ll be at the heart of our construction projects—ensuring compliance, driving quality, and safeguarding value at every stage.
From monitoring on-site activities and conducting inspections to verifying costs and supporting value engineering, you’ll make sure every project is delivered to the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and performance. You’ll collaborate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to resolve issues quickly, maintain governance, and keep projects on track. This is a role where detail meets impact; your insights will shape decisions, your expertise will protect budgets, and your commitment to quality will define the colleague experience in our future workplaces.
Day to day, you will:
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, building regulations, and health & safety standards. Promote sustainability, accessibility, and safety standards throughout project delivery.
- Conduct site inspections and audits, documenting findings and raising issues where necessary.
- Assist in handling handover documentation and post-occupancy reviews and support the implementation of quality control plans and snagging processes.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Assist in verifying quantities and valuations submitted by contractors and suppliers. Support cost tracking and reconciliation against project budgets and forecasts and review bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and materials for accuracy.
- Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, approvals, and change requests assessed. Support the preparation of reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for senior stakeholders.
- Ensure all construction activities meet internal governance standards and external regulatory requirements. Support audits and assurance reviews, providing evidence and documentation as required.
- Liaise with Integrators, design teams, contractors, and workplace experience leads to ensure alignment. Represent the quality and quantity assurance function in project meetings and site visits.
What you’ll need:
- Quality Assurance: Capable of advising peers and suppliers on how to embed pre-defined process and procedures, while using experience to make judgements where certain activities may have acted outside these pre-defined rules and how to address them.
- Creativity and Innovative solutions: Adept at challenging current thinking and status quo constructively. With the ability to proactively turn new ideas/products/services into reality. Can experiment, take manageable risks, and learn from the results.
- Supplier Performance: Experience of advising against complex supplier queries, ensuring agility and resilience of relationships. Aligning supplier engagement, management, and tracking approach with Business strategy to promote cost savings and reduce supply chain risk.
- Collaboration: Capable of building professional relationships and networks as part of day-to-day work. Understands differences between people and seeks opportunities to work collaboratively across boundaries (e.g., with different teams, business areas, cultures etc.).
- Values & Behaviours: Is future focused, able to communicate positions that align with the overall Group Strategy. Finds solutions, not problems. An early adopter of change and drives transformation at pace with a growth mindset. Works with integrity and promotes a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Data Literacy: Capable of designing, developing and applying data and analytics experience in day-to-day role to drive effective decision making. Driving the team to become data-driven and use data in their day-to-day roles.
- Business and Commercial Insight: Experience at applying knowledge to monitor changes to business and marketplace and understands the impact on the Group or own area of work. Translates understanding of business impacts into practical actions.
- Technical: Experience in cost control, valuations, commercial oversight and quality assurance with a strong understanding of construction processes, building regulations, and health & safety standards.
And any experience of these would be really useful:
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with BIM, IWMS, CAFM, or similar systems/tools.
- Working knowledge of digital transformation in building services, including software, automation, and AI.
- Agile methodology and tools expertise e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and experience of leading & working as part of an agile team.
- Ability to work at pace, prioritising tasks and adapting to changing requirements.
- Experience in managing complex change.
