In this role you’ll be managing the processes and wider activities related to calculation and disclosure of our supply chain emissions to allow us to update quarterly internal dashboards and GS&SM content into the annual Group Sustainability Report. We’re a high profile and impactful team. The Supply Chain & Technology Sustainability Team sits within Group Sourcing & Supplier Management (GS&SM), and we’re responsible for ensuring we improve the sustainability impacts of our supply chain. This includes reducing the carbon emissions that our suppliers generate and ensuring our suppliers meet other broader Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) requirements around issues such as ethics, modern slavery, human rights and nature. We align ourselves to the Group’s Sustainability strategy and ambitions and in particular the Group’s public ambition to reduce supply chain emissions by 50% by 2030, on the path to net zero by 2050.
You will be responsible for managing the support and deliverables the team receives from external carbon consultants and the CDP platform. You will have a good knowledge of carbon emissions, greenhouse gas reporting as well as an appreciation of the profile of the Group’s suppliers and our sourcing and supply chain management frameworks.
What you’ll do:
- Managing and overseeing the Group’s approach to calculation and disclosure of the Group’s supply chain emissions aligned to the GHG Protocol requirements.
- Working closely with governance and reporting colleagues to ensure that emissions data is accurate, complete and fit for purpose for sharing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on supply chain sustainability by maintaining an in-depth understanding of carbon emission reporting, net zero targets / ambitions and the importance of science aligned targets.
- Take the insights we obtain from our supply chain emissions data to explain the trends and changes to these emissions based on the influencing factors such as supplier spend profiles and categories of spend.
- Creating updates for governance packs for Executive and Risk Committees.
- Ongoing management of the Climate Risk and control activities for Group Sourcing and Supplier Management.
- Engaging with and representing Supply Chain Sustainability with stakeholders across the organisation and externally.
- Developing and populating data and commentary on the Group’s approach to managing carbon and climate supply chain impacts for the Group’s response to the CDP annual disclosure.
- Working with and supporting other business areas to understand other third-party supply chain emissions as prioritised by the team.
- Managing the Group's CDP Supply Chain requests with suppliers.
- Supporting other team disclosure activity across other metrics including waste.
- Leading on external disclosure activity for supply chain including co-ordinating content for the Sustainability report.
What you’ll need:
- Strategic thinking: able to see the bigger picture and understand the current challenges and opportunities associated with supply chain carbon emissions in the FS sector and our net zero ambitions.
- An understanding of carbon emissions data: able to understand large data sets to help set strategy, advise decision-making and deliver process improvements.
- Handling complexity: able to produce reports/presentations and communications that convert sophisticated ideas/data in a simple and meaningful way.
- Clear and concise communication style and ability to communicate with stakeholders across all levels.
- Collaboration: management of multiple key stakeholders across the business to deliver on a variety of projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of LBG climate goals: a good knowledge of LBGs climate goals with an understanding of what actions will influence the business in achieving these goals.
- Understanding of current and future ESG regulatory reporting requirements.
- Knowledge or experience of CDP, EcoVadis or similar ESG data disclosure and reporting platforms.
- Experience working on ESG-based projects or within a team primarily focused on sourcing or supply chain management.
