Overview
AI Strategy Manager - Credit Cards supports flexible working options. Hybrid working is available, with at least two days per week (40%) spent at an office site. The role focuses on selecting and developing the most appropriate AI/ML solution to business problems, including feature selection, model training, prompting, fine-tuning, and designing validation frameworks. The position may involve coaching and/or management of a small team.
What you’ll be doing
This role helps shape how AI is used across the Credit Cards business by turning ideas into practical solutions that improve customer outcomes, support growth and make work simpler for our teams. You’ll sit at the centre of our AI transformation across the Credit Cards lifecycle, combining hands-on AI work with strategy to test ideas quickly, prove what works and move successful opportunities toward delivery.
You’ll identify and prioritise high-impact AI use cases, build and manage a clear backlog, and lead rapid test-and-learn cycles that demonstrate measurable value. You’ll collaborate with engineering, data science, product, platform and business teams to translate opportunities into clear experiments, track success metrics and support scaling of solutions with strong customer and commercial impact.
A key part of the role is building momentum: helping colleagues understand what AI can do in practice, bringing technical and business teams together, and creating the confidence to move from experimentation to meaningful adoption. You’ll also identify external partnerships that could accelerate capability, delivery and future innovation. The Group is focused on transforming finance for good and investing in technologies, workplaces and colleagues to create a great environment for everyone.
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years’ experience delivering AI, machine learning, data science or advanced analytics solutions end-to-end, with clear evidence of business impact.
- 3+ years’ experience shaping or delivering AI strategy, ideally within consumer lending, credit cards, financial services or another customer-led, regulated environment.
- Hands-on experience with modern AI tools and techniques, including generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning or applied AI experimentation.
- Strong experience with cloud-based data and AI platforms, ideally including GCP, BigQuery, MLOps, CI/CD pipelines or version control tools such as Git.
- Proven ability to turn ambiguous opportunities into prioritised backlogs, experiments, deliverables and measurable outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to simplify technical topics for non-technical audiences and influence across business, data, engineering and platform teams.
- Experience with internal data ecosystems, data products or large-scale customer data platforms.
- Experience with advanced GenAI use cases such as RAG, copilots, agentic workflows, NLP, document processing or conversational AI.
- Exposure to real-time decisioning, streaming architectures, model governance or regulatory environments.
- Experience leading small teams, mentoring others or managing cross-functional workstreams.
We recognise that skills are developed in many ways; if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply. We are committed to an inclusive environment and provide reasonable adjustments during recruitment to reduce barriers.
