Overview AI Engineer role with a focus on leading the development of autonomous AI capabilities, ensuring safety, security, and scalability.
The role involves setting technical direction, leading multiple teams to design, build and operate AI Agents on Google Cloud, and delivering outcomes in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities Lead and develop multiple engineering teams, fostering a high-performing, inclusive culture while delivering resilient and scalable AI solutions.
Define strategy and technical direction for agentic AI services, establishing standards, patterns and quality expectations.
Design, build and operate AI Agents on Google Cloud using services such as Vertex AI, Cloud Run, GKE, Big Query and IAM; integrate securely with enterprise systems.
Apply modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, SRE and observability; ensure platforms are secure, compliant, resilient and cost-effective through robust guardrails, model evaluation, Fin Ops and security controls.
Develop reusable components and standards; lead vendor engagements; simplify infrastructure; influence senior stakeholders across the platform.
Collaborate with Engineering, Product and Architecture teams to define strategy and technical direction for agentic AI services.
Qualifications Proficiency in Python and Type Script, with experience delivering production services (APIs, event-driven systems, microservices), ideally on GCP.
Proven technical leadership of large, multi-team deliveries; ability to set strategy and enable teams to deliver at pace.
Hands-on experience with agentic AI: building LLM-powered applications/agents, tool use, orchestration, retrieval (RAG), prompt and safety engineering, evaluation and telemetry.
Knowledge of cloud-native engineering: containers (GKE/Cloud Run), Terraform/Ia C, CI/CD, automated QA, observability, performance optimization, and incident management.
Solid knowledge of security, privacy and compliance in regulated environments; able to work with Risk, Security and Legal teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, outcome-focused narratives.
Desirable: Vertex AI Agent Builder/Agentspace, Lang Graph, multi-agent patterns or agent-to-agent protocols; data governance and model risk practices in financial services; cross-cloud patterns (Azure/AWS); experience building communities of practice and engineering guilds.
