A transformative leader in responsible AI, engaging and enabling the Platform and Business. This role will inform the patterns of ethical AI development and deployment for the Group and guide some of our most prominent AI use cases.

At this exciting time when Lloyds Banking Group is starting to adopt AI at scale, we are seeking a deep expert in responsible AI to join our AI Centre of Excellence in the Chief Data & AI Office! This hands‑on role will play a critical part in enabling the Business and Platforms in Responsible AI approaches and techniques! The role will partner with the Business and Platforms to bring appropriate AI risk mitigations to some of our most prominent AI use cases. It will establish guideline patterns that will be reused across the Group. In addition, the role will play a key role in establishing a programme of responsible AI enablement for the Group and help to mature our hub‑and‑spoke model. This senior role is essential to helping Lloyds Banking Group scale responsible AI. You’ll be expected to act as a transformative leader, with a strong vision, promoting a culture of safe and ethical AI throughout the organisation, advising our senior leaders.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Organise the Responsible AI support for the Big Bet agenda, providing expertise support to the use cases that fall under the Big Bet themes.
  • Work as a partner to the Business and Platforms, helping to deliver best‑in‑class AI risk mitigation and AI monitoring solutions.
  • Shape the formation of repeatable risk & control patterns that the Group can leverage at scale.
  • Support escalations of ethical edge cases to our Data & AI Ethics Committee.
  • Demonstrate leadership on responsible AI, helping to shape Lloyds Banking Group’s standard of responsible AI adoption.
  • Support a programme of enablement in responsible AI through the AI Academy and the maturing of our hub‑and‑spoke model.

What you’ll need:

  • PhD in AI or a related field or equivalent, significant industry experience working in a responsible AI‑related role.
  • A good understanding of Cloud technologies including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and the Responsible AI tooling available on GCP / VertexAI.
  • Proven experience developing AI solutions to the highest ethical standards, including directly engaging with AI product teams.
  • Demonstrable expertise in responsible AI, including a firm understanding of the regulatory and legislative landscape.
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior partners and course correct initiatives towards strategic outcomes.
  • Experience in Financial Services is preferable.
