Job Description
Yard EngineerLocation: East GrinsteadType: Full-Time (40 hours), PermanentSalary: £30K – £32.5K
About the Role:
Lloyd Recruitment Services are looking for a practical and reliable Engineer to join a newly established depot in East Grinstead.
You'll play a vital role in preparing, testing, and repairing industrial machinery. This is mainly a yard-based role, but occasional travel to customer sites will be required as per business demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service, maintain and ensure the appearance and upkeep of machinery and equipment
- Follow manufacturers' recommended service schedules
- Load and offload equipment in the yard
- Drive a forklift in the yard (training provided if needed)
- Book in stock and carry out off-site servicing and repairs when needed
- Synchronise equipment on site as required
- Take part in the engineers' call out rota (currently 1 week in 4)
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and follow all Health & Safety policies
- Work in line with company quality, environmental, health & safety, and energy management standards
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC) OR hands on experience
- Full UK Driving Licence (towing categories preferred)
- Forklift Truck Licence is a bonus – training provided if needed
- Experience working in a workshop environment is an advantage
- ECS/CSCS/CPCS card preferred but not essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and adaptable to meet business needs
