We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join a 1st opinion small animal practice on the South Coast of England. Life by the sea? This clinic is based in an ideal location that offers the best of both worlds: coastal living with easy access to larger cities. Nestled between Portsmouth and the South Downs National Park, it’s perfect for those who enjoy a mix of seaside and countryside. The town itself has a good selection of shops, pubs, and local amenities, with excellent transport links including direct train services to London and easy access to the A27 and A3. For outdoor lovers, nearby Hayling Island and Langstone Harbour are great for walking, cycling, or watersports. Plus, property prices tend to be more affordable than in neighbouring hotspots like Chichester or Winchester, making it a popular base for young professionals and families alike.

The hours for this position are open to discussion but typically are:

  • Full-time = 40 hours/week
  • 15–30 minute consults (all initial sick pets get 30 mins)
  • No OOH
  • Support for preferred balance of surgery vs consults

The clinic itself is owned by two vets and has a close-knit team on-site, supported by a wider group of sister practices and a 20+ vet network. Interests across the group include ophthalmology, imaging, orthopaedics, cardiology, and more — making it a fantastic place for learning, collaboration, and pursuing certificates. They are equipped with a large theatre, spacious prep area, and regularly updated kit to keep up with both team needs and patient care.

The offer includes:

  • Salary from £50,000–£65,000 FTE (depending on experience)
  • CPD budget of £1,750 + 5 days CPD leave (FTE)
  • Certificate support beyond CPD budget
  • Holiday allowance that increases with service + birthday leave
  • RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees paid
  • Pension scheme
  • Income Protection Insurance
  • Life Assurance
  • Option for private medical insurance
  • Generous staff pet care discounts (also for immediate family)

A great choice for someone looking for clinical freedom, a friendly team, and space to grow in their career. Get in touch for more information by sending a CV via APPLY to Sophie or email sophie@lloydandcowan.com.
