Our client, a Plymouth-based organisation experiencing continued growth, is looking to appoint a Financial Accountant on a full-time, permanent basis to strengthen their finance team. As the Financial Accountant, you will work closely with senior management and play a key part in enhancing the quality and integrity of the organisation's financial reporting, compliance, and financial insight. This is a high-impact, technically focused position, ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional with strong technical expertise and the ambition to contribute to the ongoing development and strategic direction of the finance function.

The responsibilities:

  • Produce consolidated and entity financial statements in line with IFRS and UK GAAP requirements.
  • Assist with external audits and tax compliance to ensure deadlines and reporting standards are met.
  • Oversee regulatory filings such as Corporation Tax, VAT, import duties, Transfer Pricing, and Intrastat reporting.
  • Keep senior management informed of developments in financial legislation and tax rules, evaluating potential business impacts.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of monthly management reporting.
  • Support budgeting cycles, financial forecasts, and business modelling activities.
  • Deliver financial insights and analysis to aid strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Work alongside senior management and the finance teams to improve financial systems, processes, and lease accounting records.

The candidate:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing financial statements, managing consolidations, and improving financial processes.
  • Solid understanding of financial systems, with additional exposure to lease accounting, property finance, or automation tools considered advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, advanced MS Office skills (particularly Excel), and the ability to deliver accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
