Llanwern High School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, empathetic, and resilient Pastoral Support Officer to join our team on a permanent basis. We are looking for an exceptional individual to provide high-quality pastoral care, supporting the academic, social, and emotional progress of students across the school.
The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting positive student behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement with learning. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing support and guidance to staff on student pastoral issues.
- Promoting positive student behaviour and wellbeing, including delivering targeted interventions for behaviour support and communicating outcomes with relevant stakeholders.
- Attending student support meetings, sharing relevant information where appropriate, and implementing agreed interventions.
- Ensuring attendance registers are accurate and up to date, and that attendance procedures are followed for absent or missing students.
- Completing student voice activities for identified year groups, and collating and reporting findings to line managers and relevant colleagues.
The role will involve supporting students who face barriers to learning, working with both individuals and groups to enable full access to education and improve outcomes. The successful candidate will be able to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, while demonstrating resilience, initiative, and a commitment to inclusion.
Our School: Llanwern High School is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive school serving much of the eastern side of Newport. The school is housed in a modern building that provides a learning environment suited to 21st-century education. There are approximately 1,000 pupils on roll, with numbers expected to continue growing in the coming years.
