This post will play a key role in delivering a truly innovative, psychologically and trauma‑informed model of support for young people in Cardiff who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. This ambitious project aims to make youth homelessness rare, brief and non‑recurrent. As the first Housing First for Young People Scheme in Cardiff, you will be part of the inception and development of a new service that provides flexible, person‑centred support for those unable to access existing accommodation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Housing First support to young people with complex needs, helping them to secure and maintain tenancy.
- Work individually with each young person to explore strengths, goals and aspirations.
- Deliver specific support around personal, emotional and psychological needs, equipping them with coping skills and tools to enhance emotional resilience.
- Collaborate with Llamau and partners including Cardiff Council, Cardiff University, Welsh Refugee Council, Cadwyn Housing Association, United Welsh Housing Association, Platfform and Cardiff & Vale Health Board to deliver integrated services.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with young people affected by homelessness or disadvantage.
- Understanding of Housing First principles and trauma‑informed practice.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
