We have contract vacancy for an experienced herdsperson to join a 750-acre family farming operation near Bath in Somerset.
The appointed person will need to be focused on clean milk production, with attention to detail and be capable of foot trimming or willing to be trained and support the farm team operations when required.
The ability to calves cows, as well as maintain accurate records, is also required.
This 100-cow herd of pedigree British Friesians are supplying Barbers cheese, are all year-round calving and yielding 7,200 litres on 2 x milking via a 10 x 10 herringbone parlour, with in parlour feeders.
AI is outsourced but heat detection is required.
Conventional paddock grazing is practiced during the summer and, while housed in cubicles, cows get maize silage alongside self-feed grass silage.
