We require an experienced and dedicated assistant herdsperson to join the team on a respected, well invested, modern dairy unit with excellent staff retention. The Holstein herd is cubicle housed in sheds designed to maximise cow comfort and milking is undertaken through a 60-point rotary. The farm enjoys excellent handling facilities and modern kit to ensure the daily tasks of care and welfare of the herd - which is a priority - are undertaken easily with minimum stress to both animals and staff.
The role would involve working alongside the herd manager, undertaking a certain amount of milkings, herd health and welfare tasks and the usual husbandry jobs. The ability to spot and treat common health related issues, be proactive in cow care and good communication skills are a must. The role would suit someone on the pathway to herd management.
