About Us
For over 145 years, Leeds Jewish Welfare Board (LJWB) has supported the Jewish and North Leeds communities. As one of North Leeds’ most established social care charities, we support more than 1,000 people every month. Our three Kosher residential homes are rated “Good” by CQC and support people with learning disabilities to live independent and fulfilling lives.
Ready to Take the Lead and Make a Difference?
Are you an experienced and compassionate care professional who is ready to take the next step in your career? We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident Team Leader to help lead our dedicated care team in one of our residential care homes and ensure the people we support continue to receive high-quality, person-centred care.
This is more than just a supervisory role. You’ll be someone colleagues can turn to for guidance, residents can rely on for outstanding support, and managers can trust to help keep the service running smoothly.
About the Role
As a Team Leader, you’ll work alongside the team while taking additional responsibility for helping to make sure each shift runs safely, effectively and positively.
You’ll lead by example, supporting colleagues to deliver consistently high standards of care while keeping the people we support at the heart of every decision.
No two days will be the same. One moment you could be supporting a colleague, the next coordinating the day’s activities, reviewing care, speaking with families or helping a resident get ready for an outing.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and supporting staff during shifts and providing clear day-to-day direction
- Promoting high-quality, person-centred care that respects individual choice, dignity and independence
- Leading by example and creating a positive, supportive environment for residents and colleagues
- Supporting residents to live active, meaningful and fulfilling lives
- Helping to ensure care plans, records and other documentation are completed accurately and to a high standard
- Supporting colleagues with their development, confidence and professional practice
- Helping maintain safe working practices and high standards across the home
- Communicating effectively with residents, colleagues, families and other professionals
- Responding confidently and appropriately when challenges arise
- Working closely with managers to support the smooth day-to-day running of the service
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines excellent care with confident leadership. You’ll be approachable enough that your team feels comfortable coming to you, organised enough to keep a busy shift on track, and confident enough to step up and make decisions when needed.
Ideally, you will have:
- Hold a RQF Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
- Experience working within social care, learning disabilities or a similar care environment
- Experience supporting, mentoring or supervising other staff
- A strong understanding of person-centred care
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence in taking responsibility and making appropriate decisions
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment
- A positive, calm and solutions-focused approach
- A commitment to promoting choice, dignity, independence and respect
- Flexibility around the needs of a residential care service
The right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship
The Kind of Leader We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room to be a great Team Leader.
We’re looking for someone who listens, supports, encourages and leads by example.
Someone who knows that excellent care comes from strong relationships, good teamwork, attention to detail and never losing sight of the individual behind the care plan.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
Benefits
- Free DBS Check
- Great work environment
- Death in Service Benefit (Life Insurance)
- Extra day of leave after 3 years’ service, up to a maximum of 3 extra days
- Long service recognition
- Option to join company healthcare scheme
- Free access to Employee Assistance Programme
Our Values
Everything we do is shaped by our commitment to:
- Collaboration: Working closely with our residents, customers, locality and service users to understand and respond to their needs
- Caring: Caring for others and the environment
- Respect: Treating people with respect
