We’re working with a well-established, independent engineering consultancy who are growing their Structural Engineering team in Sheffield or their satellite site in Bangor, Wales. They’ve built a reputation for doing great work across the UK, from clever domestic alterations and extensions to bespoke commercial developments, and now need an experienced Senior or Principal Structural Engineer to help lead the way.
This isn’t a faceless corporate role. You’ll be hands-on from design to delivery, supported by a close-knit team and a wider business that genuinely invests in its people (they’re Investors in People Gold accredited).
What’s on offer
- Salary: £47k–£50k for Senior, £58k–£62k for Principal
- Flexible working – office in Sheffield or Bangor + hybrid options
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Pension with 5% employer contribution
- Life assurance (4x salary), income protection, private healthcare + cash plan
- Professional subscriptions paid
- Training & development plan tailored to you
- Volunteering day every year (fully paid)
- Cycle to work scheme
What you’ll be doing
- Leading and delivering structural designs (steel, concrete, timber, masonry) to British Standards/Euro Codes
- Managing projects from the small and quirky to large-scale, ensuring quality, budgets and deadlines are met
- Collaborating with colleagues, contractors, and clients across multiple offices
- Mentoring junior engineers and shaping the future team
- Contributing to proposals, tenders and a bit of business development
- Carrying out inspections, trial hole investigations, and liaising with design teams to meet client briefs
What we’re looking for
- 5–7+ years’ experience in a consultancy environment
- Degree in a relevant engineering subject
- Chartered (or very close to it) with ICE/IStructE
- Strong technical skills with design software (Tekla, CADS, Tedds, AutoCAD is a bonus)
- Solid knowledge of British Standards & Design Codes
- A full driving licence and access to a car
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a consultancy where your work really makes a difference, to projects, communities, and your own career.
