A market-leading joinery and fit-out contractor, with a turnover exceeding £100m and a strong presence across high-end commercial and refurbishment projects, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take on a key leadership role within its commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior QS to step into a No.1 position, taking full commercial ownership of projects while leading and developing a team beneath them. The business has a strong pipeline of secured work and a reputation for delivering high-quality, detail-driven joinery packages across London and the South East.
This role will suit a commercially astute individual who is confident managing projects from pre-construction through to final account, while driving performance, profitability, and client relationships.
- Full Commercial Ownership: Take responsibility for the end-to-end commercial management of projects, ensuring financial performance, contractual compliance, and successful delivery.
- Manage and mentor a team: Oversee performance, output, and professional development of Quantity Surveyors.
- Cost Planning & Financial Control: Prepare pre-tender profit plans, cashflow forecasts, and monitor project performance through detailed cost reporting and monthly profit reviews.
- Lead procurement: Ensure alignment with programme, cost plans, and contractual obligations.
- Commercial & Contractual Management: Identify and manage variations, drive value engineering opportunities, and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Final Accounts & Project Close-Out: Lead the agreement of final accounts both upstream and downstream, ensuring projects are commercially closed out effectively. Maintain strong client relationships, working closely with client-side QS teams and supporting post-completion aftercare.
5-10 years experience working with a joinery or fit-out contractor. Proven experience operating at Senior QS level or ready to step into a No.1 position. Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of construction contracts. Confident managing projects from pre-construction through to final account.
