We are currently partnering with a multidisciplinary contractor with presence across the UK and proven success in a variety of sectors including Rail, Utilities, Energy, and Roads. Due to continued growth in their Industrial arm, they are actively seeking an experienced Head of Planning to join their team in Hertfordshire to lead the planning on various projects across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Programme Leadership: Lead the planning function across multiple industrial projects, ensuring robust, integrated construction programmes are developed and maintained from pre-construction through to project handover.
  • Team & Resource Management: Manage and mentor a team of planners across regional sites. Drive consistency in planning standards, tools, and reporting across the industrial business unit.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project directors, commercial teams, and clients to align programme objectives, mitigate risk, and ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Programme Risk & Delay Analysis: Identify and manage project risks through proactive planning techniques. Undertake forensic delay analysis and contribute to extension of time claims where necessary.
  • Planning Systems & Continuous Improvement: Champion the use of planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject) and contribute to ongoing development of internal systems, workflows, and planning best practices.

Requirements

  • Must have relevant degree level qualification
  • Must have 10+ years’ experience in a similar role on similar large scale construction projects
  • Must have UK Passport or RTW in the UK
