Senior M&E Project Manager – Data Centre – East London
Our client is a large and well-established MEP Sub-Contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake major Mechanical & Electrical Packages on behalf of Tier:1 main contractors involved in ‘technology’ schemes including Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Semi-Conductor plants and heavy industrial projects.
Due to continued growth in the region of their Data Centre division, our client is now seeking an experienced Senior M&E Project Manager to join their Data Centre team based on a hyper-scale data centre build in East London.
Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution:
Develop and implement comprehensive project plans for the mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems of the data centre. Ensure these plans align with the overall construction schedule and budget while meeting client requirements and industry standards. Oversee the execution of M&E works from initiation through to completion.
Team Leadership and Coordination:
Lead and coordinate M&E teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of mechanical and electrical systems. Foster collaboration among various departments and ensure effective communication between project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and clients.
Budget and Cost Control:
Oversee the budgeting and cost management for M&E systems. Monitor expenditures, track costs, and implement measures to avoid cost overruns. Ensure that M&E work is completed within budget, while still meeting required standards of quality and safety.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Ensure that all M&E systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in line with the project’s quality requirements, relevant industry standards, and regulations. Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high-quality standards throughout the construction process.
Risk Management and Problem Solving:
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to M&E systems. Address technical challenges or unforeseen issues promptly, ensuring that any obstacles or delays are managed effectively to prevent impacts on the overall project timeline.
Stakeholder and Client Management:
Act as the primary point of contact for all M&E-related matters, providing regular updates to senior management and clients. Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded, and manage relationships to ensure smooth project delivery and client satisfaction.
Requirements
Relevant degree or equivalent trades background required
Data Centre experience is preferred
Must have 5+ years experience managing large construction projects
