We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex high-voltage transmission and energy infrastructure projects across the UK. This role will involve managing major grid reinforcement, substation upgrades, and EHV cable systems, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The successful candidate will bring strong experience in HV transmission, utilities, and large-scale infrastructure delivery, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors, and oversee commissioning and energisation phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of HV transmission and substation projects from development through construction and commissioning.
  • Manage project planning, risk management, budgets, and schedules across complex infrastructure works.
  • Coordinate contractors, engineers, and stakeholders across electrical, civil, and commissioning activities.
  • Plan and manage major outages and switching programmes on live transmission networks.
  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of EHV cable systems and substation equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, regulatory standards, and client requirements.
  • Produce project reports, progress updates, and risk assessments for senior leadership.
  • Maintain strong relationships with network operators, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation and recovery strategies where required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering HV transmission or utilities infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in project management within energy, utilities, or power sectors.
  • Experience managing EHV cable systems, substations, or transmission upgrades.
  • Knowledge of network operator standards and safety procedures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Professional project management qualifications such as APM / MAPM or equivalent are desirable.
