Our client, a respected main contractor specialising in high-quality refurbishment and fit-out projects, is seeking a Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team on a hotel refurbishment project in Bristol.

Working alongside the existing QS, you will play a key role in driving the project through its final phases, ensuring accurate cost management, smooth commercial delivery, and a successful completion.

Responsibilities
  • Cost Control & Final Financial Tracking: Support the existing QS in managing project costs, monitoring remaining budgets, and ensuring all financial records are accurate and up to date for the final stages of the refurbishment.
  • Variations & Change Management: Review outstanding variations, assess entitlement, prepare documentation, and assist in negotiating and agreeing changes with subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Subcontractor Management & Valuations: Carry out monthly valuations, verify subcontractor applications, and ensure payments are processed correctly and in line with contractual obligations.
  • Commercial Reporting & Forecasting: Assist with preparing cost reports, cashflow forecasts, and commercial updates for senior management to support informed decision-making during project close-out.
  • Final Accounts & Project Close-Out: Work with the project team to prepare, negotiate, and agree final accounts, ensuring all commercial matters are concluded efficiently and the project is closed out smoothly.
Requirements
  • Must have 6+ years experience in a similar role preferably on refurbishment projects
  • Must have degree level qualifications
  • Must be based within commutable distance of site in Bristol
