Project: £10bn Hyperscale Data Centre Campus

Our client is a leading international main contractor delivering some of Europe's most advanced hyperscale and mission-critical data centre developments. They are seeking an experienced QA/QC Lead Mechanical to join the delivery team on a landmark £10bn hyperscale data centre campus in Blyth, North East England. This flagship development, one of the largest data centre campuses in Europe, will be delivered over the next decade and represents one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading mechanical quality assurance and quality control activities across the project, ensuring all installation works meet the highest standards of safety, compliance and technical excellence.

Working closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, Mechanical teams, commissioning personnel, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives, you will oversee quality processes, inspections, testing and documentation throughout the delivery lifecycle, from installation through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead QA/QC activities across all mechanical installation packages
  • Develop, implement and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures and project documentation
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, method statements and technical submissions
  • Conduct inspections and monitor compliance of mechanical works against project requirements
  • Ensure installation standards meet design intent, client specifications and industry standards
  • Manage mechanical quality records, inspection reports, test documentation and handover files
  • Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, subcontractors and commissioning teams
  • Manage NCRs, defects, observations and corrective actions through to close-out
  • Support commissioning activities including pressure testing, flushing, testing, balancing and system validation
  • Review subcontractor quality submissions and ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Lead quality meetings, audits and reporting activities
  • Coordinate mechanical quality interfaces with electrical, CSA, BMS and commissioning teams
  • Promote a strong quality culture across all site operations

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a QA/QC Lead, QA/QC Manager with a strong mechanical background
  • Previous experience delivering hyperscale data centres, mission-critical facilities, pharmaceutical, industrial or complex commercial projects
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services including HVAC, chilled water systems, pipework, plant installation and associated systems
  • Experience managing mechanical QA/QC processes on large-scale construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), NCR management, commissioning documentation and handover processes
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Experience working with specialist subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong organisational, reporting and stakeholder management skills
  • Mechanical engineering qualification (Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience working within fast-paced, technically demanding construction environments
