Job Description
Mechanical & Electrical Design Manager Data Centres
Our client is a dynamic, fast-growing data centre developer. They have grown rapidly, mainly through acquisitions, over the last few years and now operate 60 different sites across Europe. The organisation is still heavily in acquisition mode and is about to add a further 10 sites to their portfolio with advanced talks for others that may come to fruition over the next 12-18 months.
Our client is about to embark on a series of upgrades, improvements, refurbishments, and extensions to their existing UK sites and they are now seeking an MEP Design Manager to join the team.
They have offices in the north of England and London, and this role can be based primarily from home, from either office, or hybrid (whichever suits you best), but it will require some travel to sites as required.
The Design Manager will oversee and coordinate the design aspects of construction projects from inception to completion. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the design meets our client’s requirements, adheres to regulatory standards, and offers value engineering solutions. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and the project team to develop and implement design strategies that align with project goals. Additionally, the Design Manager will coordinate with external designers for each project and report any design risks to the Projects Director.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience working as a Design Manager in a project environment is essential.
- The successful applicant will have substantial Design Management experience and a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent budgets.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction design principles, building codes, and regulations.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Our client can offer the role on a permanent or long-term contract basis (daily rate negotiable).
