A leading UK contractor delivering large-scale mission-critical projects is seeking a Mechanical Construction Manager to join a major data centre build in Central London. With a strong pipeline of hyperscale and technical projects, this business offers excellent career progression and long-term stability.
You will lead the on-site mechanical package through installation, testing, and handover—managing subcontractors, programme, quality, and safety, while working closely with the project delivery and MEP teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage mechanical subcontractors across HVAC, pipework, and specialist systems
- Coordinate all on-site mechanical activities with project and client teams
- Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems
- Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and safety plans
- Monitor labour, progress, and programme milestones
- Manage delivery, storage, and installation of plant and equipment
- Ensure quality, compliance, and safety standards are achieved on site
- Maintain strong client communication and reporting throughout the project
Candidate Requirements:
- Relevant mechanical qualification (BEng, HNC, NVQ, or similar)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical construction management
- Background in data centres, pharma, cleanrooms, or other complex projects
- Strong planning, coordination, and leadership skills
- Proven track record managing subcontractor teams and multiple systems
- Excellent knowledge of health, safety, and compliance requirements
- Based in or able to commute to Central London
